Good morning Nigerians! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, said his directive to security agencies to shoot any person found illegally
wielding AK-47s and other weapons still stands. Buhari spoke in Lagos at the handing over of security equipment by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to the Police Command.

2. The FG has applauded the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) and Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) for calling off their industrial actions. In a statement by the Deputy Director, Press, Charles Akpan, yesterday, Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the government welcomes the decisions.

3. The Federal Government yesterday declared Monday, June 14, as public holiday to mark this year’s Democracy Day celebration. Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.

4. President Muhammadu Buhari has said some graduates with good degrees may not have jobs because of the action of certain persons. He spoke in an interview with ARISE TV on Thursday.

5. Journalists from across the nation’s media were barred from covering the high-profile meeting on the “state of the nation” convened by a former President, Olusegun Obasanjo. The nine-hour marathon meeting held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

6. The US yesterday, sent another message to President Muhammadu Buhari over the ban of microblogging site, Twitter, saying he should respect the rights of Nigerians. In a statement on Thursday, Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, said restricting social media has no place in a democracy.

7. Unknown gunmen yesterday, attacked Ojoto Police station in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State and gunned down one Police Inspector. Anambra Police Spokesman, Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the incident.

8. The Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has rolled out timetable for the conduct of the party’s congresses from the ward to zonal levels. Secretary to the Committee, Senator John James Akpanduoehehe disclosed this on Thursday.

9. President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said he has given directives for the upward review of Police salaries and benefits. The President made this known while delivering a speech on Thursday during a one-day visit to Lagos State, where he inaugurated various projects.

10. The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has said that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration respects the Nigerian constitution. He spoke in Zamfara at the presentation of official vehicles to Magistrates and Sharia Court Judges.
